Terms of Use

1.What LockedIn82 is

LockedIn82 lets you predict the winner of NBA regular-season games and compete against other users on leaderboards.

There is no money involved. The site is free to use. There are no entry fees, no prizes, no wagering, and no cash or cash-equivalent rewards of any kind. Nothing on this site is gambling, and it is not a betting service.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the National Basketball Association, any NBA team, or any of their affiliates.

2.Your account

You need an email address to use the site. We use magic-link sign-in, so you don't have a password.

You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since anyone with access to your inbox can sign in as you.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 16, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to use the site.

One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to gain an advantage on a leaderboard is not permitted.

3.Picks and scoring

Picks lock 30 minutes before each game's scheduled tip-off. Once a pick is locked it cannot be changed or removed. This is enforced automatically and we won't make exceptions.

If the NBA reschedules a game, the lock time moves with it.

Scores and results come from a third-party data provider. We make a reasonable effort to keep them accurate, but we don't guarantee they will always be correct or timely. If a result is wrong, email us and we'll look into it.

We may need to correct scoring errors, including after a game has settled. Where that happens we'll try to be transparent about it.

4.Display names and conduct

Your display name is visible to other users in pools you're in, and on the global leaderboard if you've chosen to appear there.

Don't use a display name that is:

• —Abusive, harassing, hateful, or discriminatory
• —Sexually explicit
• —Impersonating someone else
• —Designed to evade our filters through creative spelling

We may rename any account whose display name breaches these terms. If we do, you'll get one free name change to pick something acceptable. If your replacement also breaches these terms, your display name may be locked for the remainder of the season.

Other users can report display names to us. We review reports and act where appropriate.

Private pools are more relaxed than the global leaderboard. What you and your mates call each other in a private pool is largely your business, but the global leaderboard is public and we enforce standards there.

5.Reporting a problem

If you see something on the site that you think breaches these terms — a display name, or any other content — use the report function, or email hello@lockedin82.com.

We aim to look at reports within a few days. We may remove content, rename accounts, or suspend accounts that breach these terms.

If you're in New Zealand and believe content on this site is causing you serious emotional distress, you can also contact Netsafe, the approved agency under the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015, at netsafe.org.nz.

6.Things we don't promise

The site is provided as is. It's a free thing built by one person in their spare time.

We don't guarantee that:

• —The site will always be available or free of bugs
• —Scores, schedules, or results will always be accurate
• —Your data will never be lost
• —Emails will always arrive

We may change, suspend, or discontinue the site at any time. If we shut it down we'll give reasonable notice by email where we can.

To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those apply.

7.Suspending or removing accounts

We may suspend or remove an account that:

• —Breaches these terms
• —Attempts to manipulate scoring or leaderboards
• —Attempts to gain unauthorised access to the site or other users' accounts
• —Is used to harass other users

You can delete your own account at any time by emailing hello@lockedin82.com.

8.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make a significant change we'll note it on the site or email you. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9.Governing law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
